Good news came from Political Science Study Program student, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (FISIP UMJ) Mutia Alifia who won a gold medal at the Pencak Silat championship event at the 2023 Jakarta National Championship at the Nanggala Sports Hall, East Jakarta, on Saturday-Sunday. (13-14/05/2023).
Mutia managed to win 1st place at the national level of the Pencak Silat championship from the Under A Girls class by obtaining a score of 26 pawns from the opposing team 2 points and in the semi-finals 9 points from the opposing team 3 points. Mutia admitted that there were many difficult processes while preparing for the Pencak Silat championship at the 2023 Jakarta National Championship.
Apart from doing a lot of preparation, besides that it turns out that Mutia also has to train 8 athletes who will compete in the same event . Not to mention, the many obstacles that Mutia faced did not stop her enthusiasm to be a winner.
Mutia admitted that she was grateful to be able to get a gold medal as well as 1st place at the pencak silat championship and said that the medal could not be obtained without the support of her parents and the university, of course.
“Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful and happy to win this award. There was support from my parents who were initially a little afraid that their children would take part in pencak silat, but in the end they supported and encouraged me. Apart from that, the university is also very supportive of its students who want to achieve academically and non-academically,” Mutia said when contacted via text message, Monday (05/15/2023).
Not only did he win 1st place in the 2023 Jakarta National Pencak Silat Championship event alone. It turns out that Mutia has made many achievements in this non-academic field, such as; 2 gold medals at the 2022 & 2023 International Paku Bumi Championship event .
Of course, after winning a gold medal at the 2023 Jakarta National Championship, Mutia hopes to become an international athlete and coach to produce quality athletes to make Tapak Suci and UMJ especially proud.
