IPB University in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs held an expo and business meeting for Beneficiary Families (BF) in Pandan Wangin Paddy Culture Village, Tegal Lega, Warung Kondang, Cianjur, on December 29th. This event is a series of activities for the Mentoring Incubation of the Social Entrepreneurship Program (ProKUS) of Cianjur Regency in 2021.
The Deputy Chancellor for Innovation and Business/Head of the Institute for Science and Technology (IfST) IPB University, Professor Erika B Laconi, said that the IPB University IfST business incubator together with seven mentors had provided business assistance for 200 BFs. The assistance starts from data verification, surveys, business mentor training, BFs training, business assistance, delivery of assistance for production strengthening, and product expo along with business meetings.
She added that this activity aims to introduce BFs’ products to partners and the wider community. It is hoped that business cooperation and sustainable assistance to BFs ProKUS can be realized with business partners and mentoring institutions.
The Head of the Cianjur Regency Social Service, Amad Mutawali, expressed the same thing. He explained, through assistance from the IfST IPB University Business Incubator, the superior business potential of BFs in Cianjur is expected to be raised and developed into a profitable business. The business can become a source of income for the hopeful family, such as the examples of the products displayed at this time’s expo and business meeting.
“Through the 2021 ProKUS Business Meeting and Product Expo, it is hoped that BFs, partners, and local governments can build communication and cooperation agreements in a synergistic and mutually beneficial way for business sustainability and mentoring programs for BFs in the future,” he said.
In addition, empowerment is a productive solution for BFs and the Ministry of Social Affairs program, which so far still provides cash social assistance that tends to be consumptive. This is because the program does not build independence and sustainability of the program.
On the same occasion, business partners such as Bank Mandiri, Bank BNI, Bank BRI, Bank BJB, BUMDES, catering entrepreneurs, suppliers and product distributors were also present. The partners visited the exhibition stand and had direct dialogue with BFs to explore cooperation. The result of this collaboration is one of the outputs of the Cianjur ProKUS business meeting and product expo which was accompanied by the IPB University IfST Business Incubator.
This activity received full support from the Department of Social Affairs, the Department of Tourism, Youth and Sports, as well as the Department of Cooperatives, SMEs, Trade and Industry of Cianjur. This Expo was attended by 30 participants from BFs, 15 participants from the People’s Market PKH Dinsos Cianjur Regency and 20 business partners. From the activities that have taken place, most of the partners expressed interest in several BFs’ products and fully support ProKUS in Cianjur will be followed up by signing a cooperation agreement.
